Ms. Rafer became an attorney because she wanted to give back to her immigrant community and make a difference in her life and the lives of others.
As a .5 generation immigrant (born in the Philippines but grew up in the States since a baby), she experienced first-hand the struggles many immigrant families face in coming to the U.S. -adjusting to a new world, finding and being part of a community, and balancing different and often times competing cultures. But she also had the advantage of growing up in the U.S., never having to "learn" a foreign language, system or culture. Practicing Immigration Law allows Ms. Rafer to help her extended family and fellow Kababayans and immigrants understand the intricate legalities of the immigration legal system.
Ms. Rafer has met many people from all over the world. She believes every one of her clients has a special story and a unique background. It gives her great pleasure to reunite families in the U.S., to keep families together, to help bring workers to the U.S., and to protect families from persecution or from an abusive spouse or parent.
The best part of Ms. Rafer’s job is working closely with her clients. She values and provides personal service and quality representation because her clients and all immigrants deserve it.
